The Project “Territori Snodo 2” is the prosecution of the Program “Territori Snodo” of the Italian Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti. In the context of the Regione Abruzzo it has been declined as “territory Project” and is developed through integrated interventions for regional growth inside the bigger context of the Territorial and strategic platform Lazio-Abruzzo.
The study made explicit the elements that has defined the project, giving a lecture of the Abruzzo territory in relation with the Italia mediana (the middle part of Italy, composed by Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise, Umbria, Marche and part of Tuscany and Campania). This is an original interpretation of the space of the region in line with the tendency leading in Europe, which analyses areas as Macroregion under the social and economic point of view.
At the base of the territorial model individuated, three different components are defined: the territorial Underframe (often incomplete), the territorial settlement Systems, and the touristic Systems; those are all representations that led to an overcoming of the administrative boundaries between regions. It also helps to move after the historical difference between internal and coastal areas, but also naturalistic and semi-naturalistic areas and areas characterized by a strong level of infrastructure, in between conservation of local characters and transformation. The Project of territorio snodo 2 “Abruzzo” is focused on the development of a particular territorial Underframe and its Interconnected systems: the “Quadrilatero dell’Abruzzo Centrale” (Quadrilater of Central Abruzzo, composed by L’Aquila-Teramo-Carsoli/Avezzano – Sumona/Castel di Sangro).
