Anci and Confcommercio-Imprese per l’Italia subscribed on April 23, 2015, an agreement with which they promise to experiment “new modalities and urban praxis”. The agreement represents a real innovation on the Italian and European panorama, which fundamental premises can be found in the fact that urban areas need to have a key role in the social and economic development of Italy and Europe. They need to be able to practice a stronger participation in the decision making process of the Union and the Country, taking the economic and urban point of view into the new praxis to analyze, plan, regenerate and administrate the city. The urban regeneration of the city system is an experiment to give new life to the economic, social and cultural environment that give life to our Country. This should also give new strength to the relationship between urban planning and local communities, that has become weaker and weaker along with the passing of time, creating system of desertification and possible other negative effects. The goal is then to fight this phenomenon and improve the livability of the places, reducing the use of private cars, improving the quality of public spaces, enhance the existing economic activities, improving the local and sustainable development and occupational levels. During the experimentation a considerable number of italian cities became protagonists, represented by the Municipalities and local Confcommercio that worked together in the “National Experimental Laboratory on Urban Regeneration and new Urban Praxis”, with the coordination of the Settore Urbanistica and Progettazione Urbana of the national Confcommercio. The goal is to define new possible ways for urban, economic and social development of the territories, giving life to new participated experimentations useful to define common actions and projects able to use more and better the direct and indirect resources of the European and National urban planning.
