Through Green System Plan 1993 Ravenna starts the transformation of the “Urban Landscape”. The green belt is structured to define the new edge of the city. Since then with the green belt so many areas were created: Urban Parks (Theodoric and Baronio), District Gardens, enhancement of historic gardens. Along with the functions of green spaces associated environmental functions have been integrated: water, forests and countryside. Water was conceived both as a compositional element both as an environmental resource for the regeneration of groundwater and rainwater harvesting and rolling. The woods now characterize the urban perimeter of the city and are now recognized as real environmental lungs to Ravenna. Agriculture becomes the protagonist in the city not only as agricultural areas planted with vegetables, but also in the preservation of a landscape heritage that today allows us to reinterpret the value of cultivating and use the products of the earth.
