The project predict the transformation of the ex-barrack Mameli in Milano, through the addition of public spaces and services and of a new housing district (50% ERS), of retail and services, for about 70.000 sqm of Slp (Gross Surface Area).
The project is built around a big urban park with infrastructure and facilities for playing and for leisure time, also going on with the environmental recovering of the abandoned area of the ex-barrack. The project enhance the role of the six small barracks that surround the park, and predict for them a reuse for public services, special housing and retail. The project also gives a new interpretation to the straight structure of the ex-barrack, opening it to the surrounding urban network and introducing new objects, articulated for their typology and height and characterized by functional and social mixité.
