Small and big at the same time, Neoneli is a treasure of beauty that extends for 50 sqkm, despite from the fact that the inhabitants are only 700. Its beautiful historical center, well preserved, reminds the Provençal villages, and from some viewpoints, it is possible to see the sea. Full of emotions and feelings are the religious fests and the carnival. Rich and successful, the cultural festival “Licanias” keep together the typical dishes of the Neoneli tradition with the art and music of the city. The monumental church is entitled to San Pietro Apostolo, while a small rural church located in “S’Angelu” is entitled to the archangel Gabriel. The park of Assai is impressive, inhabited by wild boars, deers and other animal species. There are several possible paths, between the forest, with Water Rivers and big blocks of stone with strange shapes; one of them is called “Sa Crabarissa”, a granitic stone more than 40 m tall with the aspect – for the legend – of a girl that became a stone because her heart was broken. Other interesting elements are the vegetation of the surrounding: flowers of asphodel, bell heather, flowers of fig, wild pears and vineyards.
