The restoration of the Cascina Cotica is based on reuse and requalification of the spaces, environmental balancement, the restoration of positive relationships between people and places, people and people; all this in the frame of a society adapt to the urban life of the future. New ways to use the space: housing services promoted by Delta Ecopolis, Coop Lombardia, with a space dedicated to social activities’ organisation, for the benefit of the members; a social-healthcare structure for all the inhabitants of the area. The Borgo will offer a meeting space for cultural association and to entertain the elders, while the inner courtyard will be open to exhibitions and events; other spaces are the Orti area, Giardino and the Casa dell’Acqua. It is also predicted the realisation of a co-working space, for those who are starting an activity – young professionists first of all – and find of an advantage to share the space, infrastructure, tools and competences with others. There will also be three temporary housing: for those in Milan who want to stay only for a period of study or work at an affordable price: in other big European cities, the presence of affordable temporary housing is a big factor of attractiveness.
