The Italian demonstration area of the “BUILDHEAT” project, co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, is a building located in Rome and built in 1971. It consists of 9 ground floors and 80 apartments. The ground floor, partially occupied by five entrance halls, stairwells and two condominium meeting halls, is raised on pilotis.
The partnership, led by the EURAC (Institute for Renewable Energy of the European Academy of Bolzano) and locally coordinated by the RIGENERA Business Network, aims to reduce up to 80% of heating and cooling consumption thanks to industrialised, modular and flexible HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), façade and ICT systems made available on the market.
Innovative financial mechanisms outlined during the project explore investment synergies between private and public funds to mitigate investment risks and to increase the property value.
