The goal of the project is the valorization and regeneration of part of the Piazza G. da Montefeltro, an area in front of the complex of the Musei di San Domenico, which is also where the civic Pinacoteca is located and some temporary exhibition are host.
The intervention has been financed partially by national funds (Banco periferie D.P.C.M. 25.05.2016), by municipal funds and by the contribution of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Forlì. The intervention aim at the demolition of the public parking actually present in the area, with the removal of the pavage and the structures until the permeable layer below. After this first step the area will be brought back to a natural green situation through the add of terrain and topsoil. The surface of the area will be covered with grass, trees, it will be provided with public furnitures and both bike and pedestrian paths. The intervention of “desealing”, which is also defined as a demonstrative action inside the frame of the European Project SOS4LIFE, will be able to increase the permeable surface from the 6% of the present situation up to the 70%, and the green area of about 4.500 m², increasing the quantity of public green for the historical center of the city.
The project SOS4LIFE wants to help the execution, on a municipal scale, of the European strategies for environmental protection and urban regeneration, in particular way focusing on the European strategy about the zero-net land consumption intervention.
In order to measure the positive effects of the recovery on terrains in urban environment, there will be a continuous monitoring of the meteoreology variables for the area of intervention, comparing those data with the one of a nearby green area, to evaluate the termal comfort added by the intervention.
