Through the presentation of projects, companies and ideas, the conference explores the field of new materials and technological innovations capable of improving the energy performance and environmental comfort of both buildings and homes, helping people with psychophysical disabilities to live independently in their homes.

Often these are innovations born from simple ideas such as the use of wood and the environmental comfort ensured by this material to create the interior of multi-sensory environments for people with disabilities, or the recovery of waste from rice processing to produce plasters that are particularly performing from an environmental quality point of view, so much so as to be awarded the Compasso d’Oro for design, or initiatives in favour of the energy, environmental, economic and social sustainability of the building heritage managed by non-profit organisations such as the one launched by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation “benEfficientiamo. Riqualificazione energetica per il sociale”, or finally with the presentation of Edera, the first Italian centre to accelerate the decarbonisation and regeneration of the built environment.

The conference will present these realities and researches and will try to draw a balance for a new phase of intervention on the built city carried out with attention not only to energy efficiency but also and above all to materials and conditions for an effective improvement of the social and environmental conditions of buildings and cities.
