The conference addresses the theme of new factories built by recovering existing buildings, with particular attention to fashion factories. These new factories constitute a new approach to work and the redefinition of workplaces. Built through the recovery of buildings already used for the production of fordist type, the new factories are distinguished by the construction of workplaces more attentive to the needs of workers, attention to the environment and inclusion in the urban context, for innovation in terms of the multifunctionality of the activities taking place there.

The theme is addressed through the illustration of emblematic cases: the new Fendi factory in Bagno a Ripoli, the headquarters of Best in Prato, the Leo France headquarters in the premises of the former Seves in Florence, the renovation of the Ferragamo factory in Sesto Fiorentino. Each project will be told from the perspective of the Municipality, the company and the designer.
