In the last ten years in the Tuscany Region different experiences of planning and governance paths have emerged, aimed at defining River Contracts, they are configured as strategic planning tools of a supra-local character, linked to the river shaft or basin and declined in integrated actions of protection and mitigation of the hydraulic risk, river and urban requalification, valorisation of the landscape and territorial contexts.

To date, the many experiences allow for an overall reflection on different aspects of these tools: from the participation and awareness-raising activities of the population, to on-site research by specialists and professionals; even the organisational structure envisages different types of governance (top down by the Land Reclamation Consortia, intermediate if initiated by municipalities, bottom up when the initiative is by local associations) and types of contract (river, lake, stream, coast).

Starting from an overall analysis of the phenomenon, the conference will present a number of emblematic cases, grouped by theme or geographical area.
