The Centralità of Massimina started from a project of urban regeneration of a dismissed mine in the periphery of Roma, located near the homonymous village, and interests an area of about 122 hectares. The Centralità, in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome, wants to define a new urban polycentric and sustainable structure, able to cover the present lack of services provided, in continuity with the tissues of the existing urban agglomeration. The regeneration of the area is the mission of the project and all the related activities, creating an intervention that is not only functional, but also social: the Centralità will be qualified as autonomous district with a self-identity, thanks to the realization of elements like schools, the civic center, a sport center, swimming polls and green parks. There will be also a new shopping mall to satisfy the need of the entire district, able also to increase the working places of the area. The new axis will be fixed on the infrastructure system of the area, which comprehend the main traffic routes of the Aurelia and GRA and their new link, also with a new stop of the train system. The intervention will have a fundamental role for the recovery of the existing district, thanks to the attention to urban and functional integration of the two settlements, with the ambitious aim of realizing a new Urban Centralità of metropolitan relevance.
