The specialized profile of UPGreen allows to connect research strands and actions often parallel, not only for a more transversal design but also more awareness of the entire path until the implementation and maintenance.

Green in the cities does not only mean taking care of green in the design of public space and landscapes, but above all assuming as an initial precondition the recognition, maintenance and reconstruction of the green system. This includes the small garden, the agricultural fields, the hills, in order to identify the possible multiple uses and the application procedures to make them really part of the unitary shape and life of the city.

In order to reach such a model of organization of green areas, however, a clear methodological path is still missing.Above all, what is missing is the habit of connecting in an orderly and effective sequence the explorations of the studies, the experiments in the plans to build appropriate urban policies of protection and a balanced use of the ecosystem.

But this is not enough. It is necessary to balance the environmental profiles and the uses of green with the correct techniques of “executive” design, with entrepreneurship, with the principles of maintenance, with the necessary training. It is also crucial to properly identify the forms of social participation in the care and maintenance with the regulations of urban green.

The goal is to clarify how perceptions, studies, research, possible uses and new markets related to green and open spaces manage to converge in cities, where they are needed and how they are needed, through adequate policies.
