Aria is the winning project in the international competition Reinventing Cities for the regeneration of the ex Slaughterhouse in Milan, the most important social housing project in Italy, which will create more than 1200 new flats, most of which will be rented at affordable rates.
Aria is a new neighborhood, full of life and activities exploring new ways of learning, having fun, growing, living and working. The renovation of historic buildings creates a place based on heritage and the circular economy of the built environment.
Thanks to the new IED international campus at POD, the science district dedicated to the promotion of future technologies, Aria is a district that immediately attracts citizens with a schedule of initiatives and temporary uses dedicated to culture, creativity and solidarity.
Students and residents will be the city makers who will make Aria a new urban destination: places of work, production and use of services, sustainable living based on inclusive and innovative experiences of co-housing and temporary collaborative uses of social housing.
Aria is a project by Redo Sgr, a benefit company on behalf of Fondo Immobiliare Lombardia Comparto Uno, with the strategic contribution of Housing Sociale Foundation also regarding placemaking and community engagement.
Redo aims to combine the economic return of the shareholders (Fondazione Cariplo, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, InvestiRE SGR, Intesa Sanpaolo) with the creation of social value through the development of social housing initiatives, urban regeneration with social impact and affordable university housing, respecting the environment and as a form of activation and empowerment of the community.
