The conference aims to stimulate a reflection on the logistics system in Italy and its relevance for the country’s industrial and productive development, while at the same time giving centrality to a reflection on possible guidelines for the government of the territory aimed at guaranteeing an effective environmental and social sustainability of new settlements, limiting the impact on land consumption and guaranteeing the services necessary for new production activities. Starting from the experience of one of the leading companies in the sector in Italy, the conference illustrates in the first part what the needs are in terms of both quality and size of areas for logistics in our country, and presents cases of intervention on brownfields without occupying new non-urbanised land.
The second part will illustrate the European regulatory frameworks and national proposals for regulations limiting or preventing new land consumption and what the effects on the logistics system are or may be, starting with the laws in force in some Italian regions. The conference will conclude with a panel discussion where representatives of the ‘investment attraction’ sectors of Lombardy and Tuscany will be present to try to address what are still the difficulties for an effective use of industrial bronwfields for urban regeneration interventions for logistics.
