Within the framework of the DARA-INU Protocol aimed at optimising local government through the ITALIAE Project, “Innovation Communities” are successful initiatives designed to promote, in a perspective of administrative strengthening, the creation and establishment of inter-municipal systems, as well as the development and structuring of associated service and function management models. Fondazione CR Firenze’s Innovation Centre

The Innovation Center was born from the recovery of the ancient Granary of Abundance, built in 1695 by the architect Giovan Battista Foggini for the Grand Duke Cosimo III dei Medici, which was used to store grain for periods of famine. The Medici coat of arms is still visible on the façade of Piazza del Cestello.
