The INU has been involved in the Accessible Cities Project since 2016 and in 2020 established the “Accessible Cities Award” which is awarded through an INU-URBIT competition notice.
The project values an approach to accessibility that overcomes the punctual intervention of eliminating barriers, to embrace a systemic and integrated vision of overall urban quality, as also indicated in the Guidelines published on the atlantecittaccessibili.inu.it platform.
Innovative projects on 360° accessibility, carried out in Italy or abroad between 1° April 2023 and 6 October 2025, in the categories of Bachelor’s and Master’s Theses, Research and Studies, participate in the Call.
The prize money of €10,000.00 is supported by the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, CRA-Tuscany Region and the Human Habitat Foundation.
Collaborating in the Award are: Minister for Disabilities, National Research Council, CERPA ETS and Urban Planning Information.
The initiative is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture.

The awards ceremony takes place as part of Urbanpromo – Projects for the Country.
