The logistics system in Italy accounts for approximately 10% of the national GDP and is growing both in terms of demand for new space and in terms of employment. In recent years, it has been the leading asset class in European real estate.
Last year, Urbanpromo explored the sector’s needs for the first time, seeking to evaluate the use of brownfields for logistics activities as a means of limiting the use of greenfield sites, as well as the implementation of multi-storey buildings in Italy.
This year, it returns to the subject with new experiences in brownfield logistics and also with a new focus on the provisions of Article 1, paragraph 61 et seq. of the 2018 Budget Law (Law No. 205 of 27 December 2017), which establishes Simplified Logistics Zones.
To date, six SLZs have been established by Ministerial Decree (Port of Trieste, Port of Venice Rodigino, Port of Ravenna, Port of Genoa, River Ports of Lombardy, Ports of Tuscany) and the conference aims to explore their state of implementation, the opportunities and critical issues that this system of areas, which extend far beyond the dry port system of individual ports, represents for the sector and for the territorial planning system.
