Almost 30 years after the regeneration of the Ancient Port, which led to the tourist rediscovery of the city, Renzo Piano offers Genoa the Masterplan.
With the Waterfront of the East, Genoa takes a new step towards urban regeneration. The intervention will be completed in 2023, will cover 115,000 square meters and will regenerate the area of the former Fair through the water (Port-Canal), the green (“Parco della Foce”) and the “urban beach”.
With a “Nearly Zero Energy Building” approach, the dialectic between the Port and the City will be addressed by working on the viability and also regenerating an important part of the built environment. The urban furniture will be a unifying element. The regeneration will include the Sports Hall that hosted Euroflora and the Boat Show, renewed focus of attraction for the European capital of sport in 2024.
The new Waterfront will also be attractive for those who live and work in Milan and who, thanks to the connections soon to be activated with the Third Tunnel, will be able to come and live and work along the sea, in a city that offers all the services and tourist and cultural attractions of a modern European Metropolis.
