A key, the symbol of the union of the two suburbs, a common thread for urban regeneration.

Guiding principles:

• Exclude new construction
• Work on the recovery of spaces and buildings, even of historical value
• Relaunch the historic centre with new functions
• Revitalising the socio-economic fabric through accessibility and urban safety

The interventions will:

1. Real estate area of via Saffi: redevelopment work creating a modern and multifunctional building with 20 apartments for families, integrated common spaces and public offices.
2. Area of Piazza della Palma: giving back a new identity and centrality to Piazza della Palma and adjacent areas, creating a public space as a natural extension of everyday life.
3. Bastion Fortress and Cassero Senese: restoration and re-functionalization of the Cassero Senese and the bastion area, to improve accessibility and create a new exhibition system.
4. Bastion Cavallerizza: terminal point of Via dei Barberi, The project concerned the setting up of a platform for events.
5. Greenway via de’ Barberi: in the South area of the city and connecting axis between the historic center and the river Ombrone. The creation of a Green Road Axis is envisaged, thus stimulating sustainable mobility.
6. Regeneration of the former PEEP area of via de’ Barberi: through the recovery from urban wreck to integrated community thanks to public-private partnerships with social housing interventions.
