Iginio Rossi, INU – URBIT
The proposal by INU-URBIT and ISNART-Mirabilia focuses on practices for pursuing a goal that has long been sought but has not yet been fully achieved in Italy: enhancing local systems built around a wealth of outstanding assets and resources. These include prestigious landmarks such as UNESCO World Heritage Sites; unique heritage assets such as landscape and production chains; and compelling networks linking culture, history and traditions. These are just some of the key elements that constitute genuine reservoirs of potential from which Italy’s most significant attractions can emerge.
Within this complex framework, it is also essential to consider the efforts and actions needed to ensure that the outcomes of these enhancement processes, as well as the solutions adopted, are accessible to everyone and socially inclusive. This is an essential commitment not only to safeguard universal rights, but also to broaden the user base, both in qualitative and quantitative terms.
During the session, through an overview of the main contexts, the presentation of relevant experiences and in-depth contributions from experts in different fields, the discussion will address analyses, trends, roles and forms of organisation that can help define territorial enhancement processes in which local systems play a driving role in the development pursued by communities.
Following the meeting, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the award ceremony for the 2026 “Accessible Cities for All” Award for master’s theses and research studies, promoted by INU-URBIT with the support of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, CRA – Tuscany Region, and Fondazione Habitat Umano, will take place.
