The Metropolitan City of Turin, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin (DIST), has developed the Environmental Compensation Abacus to support SEA and EIA procedures. The project implements the CIRCA Catalogue (Catalogue of Environmental Redevelopment and Compensation Interventions), dedicated to the census of areas requiring redevelopment or protection, providing examples of interventions based on Nature-Based Solutions.
The Abaco is a decision support tool that, in explicit connection with the objectives of the Metropolitan General Territorial Plan, provides criteria, examples of achievements, economic estimates, and useful references for selecting proportionate and effective environmental compensation and redevelopment measures. It is aimed at public administrations and professionals involved in spatial planning and the design of interventions with environmental impacts.
