The European Union is recognizing food issues as urgent urban issues and, in addition to the CAP, has in recent years promoted additional programs to make the food system more compatible with the environment, more resilient to climate change, and more equitable in relations between actors and between territories.

It is in this context that the Cities2030 project, funded by the European Horizon 2020 program, is being developed, bringing together 40 European partners involved in various capacities in the different stages of the food system.
The main objective of the project is to develop new food policies and practices that can reorient existing systems toward more sustainable, resilient and equitable models. The methodology agreed upon by the partners involves the involvement of all stakeholder groups and actors in the food system arena through the activation of Urban Policy and Living Labs. These City Region Food System Labs (CRFS Labs) will have to work on the construction of new urban policies and pilot projects capable of activating innovation processes in the relevant food system. The session proposes an in-depth look at the work being conducted by some Italian project partners and aims to stimulate comparison and debate with similar experiences that have used similar methodologies.
