Choosing culture as a driver means linking recovery and redevelopment interventions in urban spaces with processes that generate intangible value and improve the quality of life. The Administration of Colle Val d’Elsa, with the support of KCity, has established an urban regeneration strategy based on community leadership, hybridization between usually separate policies, and the integration of cultural action, social cohesion, and the inclusion of the most vulnerable individuals and territories. The goal is to make Colle a laboratory city that welcomes, connects, and regenerates, placing people at the center. Consistent with the most innovative approaches, a system of cultural spaces “hybrid” is envisioned, multifunctional and capable of mending social ties. Two trajectories guide this vision: regenerative tourism, which transforms flows into value and well-being for residents; and cultural welfare, which uses culture to promote health, inclusion, and quality of life.
